Banatrol® Plus is high in pectin, a soluble fiber that acts through absorption to reduce watery diarrhea8 to promote normalization of colon fluid composition. Soluble fiber is gel-like and helps thicken stool consistency but does not promote hard stools and does not slow gut motility. Each dose of Banatrol Plus contains 2.75 g of Bimuno®, a prebiotic Trans-galactooligosaccharide that is a food source for the beneficial bacteria that reside in the colon or gut. It is not destroyed or digested in the stomach or small intestine, so it reaches the colon where it feeds the bacteria. The National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) recommends 1.2 to 1.5 g of protein per kg of bodyweight for wound healing. Larger draining wounds may require higher levels, up to 2.0 g of protein per kg of bodyweight to offset protein losses from wound exudates. ArgiMent AT yields a high-protein-nitrogen intervention to meet the increased nitrogen needs associated with chronic, non-healing wounds.
GlutaMent® is specifically formulated to provide the nutrients for the dietary management of conditions associated with impaired gastrointestinal function or impaired immune function. Digestion and normal metabolic function of the intestines depend upon adequate amounts of glutamine. Glutamine deficiency develops during periods of fasting, starvation, strict dieting, and weight loss associated with AIDS, critical illness and cancer.
