The 2010 ADA act mandates compliance of all pools and spas open to the public be compliant with having at least one ADA compliant accessible entry. The deadline for compliance with this mandate has been extended to be due by January 31, 2013. This law affects public pools, schools, hotels, spas, health clubs and any facilities that are open to the public. Dependent on pool sizes as well, more than one lift and type of lift may be required for pool access.
Tax Credits Available:
For small businesses with revenue of $1,000,000 or less for the previous tax year or fewer than 31 employees, tax credits are available for 50% of the cost for lift purchase and installation (with a maximum credit of $5,000).
